Simple Winter Cheese Board Ideas 12 - Sensation Six

This simple winter cheese board is perfect for the colder months when there isn’t much fresh produce available. Great for the holidays or small parties, this tasty spread contains aged cheddar cheese, dried figs, almonds, pecans and honey.

Cheese boards are one of my favorite things to throw together. Whether it’s a quick and tasty dinner, or a nice get-together with friends.

With just a handful of ingredients from your local market, and in about 15 minutes, you can have this amazing spread ready to go!

I chose to keep a color theme of oranges, greens and browns for this winter spread. But feel free to get creative and have fun with it!

How do you make a winter charcuterie board?

Choose your plate

You can make your board as small or if big as you wish. Wood tones are beautiful with this winter spread. But you can also serve this on a slice slateor a marble tray.

Choose your cheeses

My method of attack is to choose two or three cheeses of different types. For this winter cheese board I chose a few of my favorites:

  1. Gruyere
  2. Parmesan cheese
  3. Aged sharp Cheddar cheese

Other cheese options include manchego, blue cheese, cambazola, havarti, feta and goat cheese.

I like to cut the cheese into different shapes, such as cubes, wedges and sticks, just to add some interest to the plate.

Add your accompaniments

  • Crackers, chips, bread. I like to serve my cheeses with some pita bread or crostini.
  • Fresh fruit. Mandarins, grapes and apples are widely available all year round and perfect for a winter cheese board.
  • Dried fruit. Figs, apricots, cranberries, dried orange slices, and cherries are all great options.
  • Fresh herbs. Fresh herbs such as sage, rosemary and thyme add a nice touch of color.
  • Olives. Head to the olive bar at the local market and pick your favorites – Castelvetrano olives and kalamata olives are a few of mine.
  • Nut seeds. Almonds, walnuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds.
  • Honey. I found a beautiful honeycomb at the market, but you can also serve this with a small bowl of honey on the side for drizzling.
