Here is a simple and delicious recipe for Chowmein:

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces dried chow mein noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large carrot, cut into thin matchsticks
  • 1 red pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 8 ounces sliced ​​mushrooms
  • 8 ounces chopped cooked chicken (optional)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions:

  1. Cook the chow mein noodles according to the instructions on the package until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large wok or frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, carrot and red pepper and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are cooked.
  4. Add the mushrooms, chicken (if using), soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar and black pepper. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked noodles and continue stirring for another 2-3 minutes until the noodles are completely covered in the sauce and the vegetables are evenly distributed.
  6. Turn off the heat and stir in the green onions.
  7. Serve the chow mein hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
