When we reach a certain level of performance as leaders, it’s easy to think that we can slide into neutral. Be here 14 compelling reasons why we can never afford to cut back on investments in our own leadership development and competence:

O be open to new feedback from followers and colleagues (and do something about it!)
R respond to requests for new services, processes and communication channels
K keep up with changing times and technologies
I informing others about important information and involving our networks in discussions about this
N always thinking we have ‘arrived’ (leadership is a relational journey and the world is changing quickly)
P preparing for future challenges that we have identified through trend scanning
R respecting all other people, including people who are not like us (it’s a constant learning experience)
O willing to take on new tasks and responsibilities
G Stepping into our new roles and responsibilities (whether we volunteered for them or not)
R each for new skills and abilities to become the best leaders we can be
E gain new ideas and perspectives on important issues (that do not align with our current beliefs)
S implying work and how we use our time to keep pace with the increasing complexity of work
S studying and responding to changing ethical expectations
